I love talking about and learning from unforgettable heroines in literature, cinema and television. Please fill out the form and I will endeavor to write a blog post about your favorite heroine.
Jane Eyre
From the very beginning of the novel, she's a contradiction and it hooks us. She's hiding from her cousin, trying to avoid him because he's such a brute. But when he finds her and hurts her, she doesn't just take it like we expected. She physically defends herself and verbally tells him exactly what she thinks of him.
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman already knows herself. She has never been sexualized. Her society has never told her that she is inferior to men. She has never had to worry herself about physical desirability. Her story is an external quest to stop or destroy Ares from causing war. Her inner self is definitely tested, that's for sure, but she doesn't waiver.
